Wat is uremisch?
Uremisch betekent dat er veel ureum in het bloed zit, een stofje wat normaal gesproken door de nieren uit het lichaam wordt gehaald, wat bij deze aandoening niet gaat omdat de nieren niet goed functioneren. Het hemolytisch uremisch syndroom wordt ook wel afgekort als HUS.
What is uremia?
Urea is the waste that the kidneys usually help to filter away. Uremia is a symptom of kidney failure. When the kidneys cannot filter waste properly, it can enter the bloodstream.
What is uremic syndrome?
It is the signs, symptoms and results from laboratory tests which result from inadequate excretory, regulatory and endocrine function of the kidneys. Both uremia and uremic syndrome have been used interchangeably to denote a very high plasma urea concentration that is the result of renal failure.
How do you test for uremia?
Diagnosis. If your doctor thinks you might have uremia, he may recommend that you see a kidney specialist, called a nephrologist. She can do a few tests to see how well your kidneys are working: Blood tests. These measure certain things in your blood, including a chemical called creatinine and a waste product called urea.
What age does uremia usually start?
There is no specific time for the onset of uremia for people with progressive loss of kidney function. People with kidney function below 50% (i.e. a glomerular filtration rate [GFR] between 50 and 60 mL) and over 30 years of age may have uremia to a degree.

Wat is een hemolytisch monster?
Hemolyse (afbraak van rode bloedcellen) is de meest voorkomende pre-analytische fout bij medische diagnostiek. Hemolyse kan ontstaan door omstandigheden in het lichaam, foutief handelen tijdens de bloedafname of door het onjuist hanteren en transporteren van monsters.
