Wat is polycysteus ovarium syndroom (PCOS)? Bij vrouwen met het polycysteus ovarium syndroom (PCOS) groeien er meer vochtblaasjes of kleine eiblaasjes dan normaal in de eierstokken. Deze blaasjes groeien ook niet goed door, waardoor er geen eisprong is. Bij PCOS zitten er veel kleine blaasjes in de eierstokken.

Kan PCOS vanzelf overgaan?

PCOS is niet te genezen. Op dit moment is er helaas geen remedie voor PCOS. Voor bijna alle vrouwen is dit moeilijk te accepteren. Wel is het zo dat je de symptomen onder controle kan krijgen door medicijnen, gezonde voeding en voldoende beweging.

    What is PCOS and how can it be treated? PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovarian syndrome and affects between 5-10% of women of reproductive age. The criteria for diagnosis has some variations but the most commonly used one involves the presence of irregular or absent menstrual periods in combination with excess androgens (male hormones) or evidence of them (male type facial/body hair) and possibly polycystic ovaries.
