Is PP brandbaar?
Brandveiligheid PP profielen Geen van de polyolefinen -dus ook polypropyleen niet -zijn zelfdovend en branden met een blauwe vlam. Er komen geen schadelijke verbrandingsproducten vrij. Door gebruik te maken van speciale toevoegingen is het materiaal brandvertragend tot zelfdovend te maken.
Welke kunststof gebruiken?
Polyethyleen (PE) Dit is de meest gebruikte kunststof. De voordelen van deze kunststofsoort is dat dit type chemisch resistent is en goed tegen kou kan. Voorbeelden van producten zijn een jerrycan waar bijvoorbeeld olie in zit, of een ijsblokbakje. Het nadeel van Polyethyleen (PE) is dat het slecht tegen warmte kan.
Welk soort plastic wordt het meest gebruikt?
De meest gebruikte kunststoffen zijn polyetheen (LDPE en HDPE) en polypropeen (PP). Deze kunststoffen worden veel gebruikt in verpakkingen, naast PET. Belangrijke kunststoffen in de bouw zijn polystyreen (PS en EPS), PVC en PUR.
Is plastic bad for your health?
Overwhelming evidence suggests that this type of plastic leaches potentially toxic chemicals, especially when heated. It would be wise to avoid #6 plastic as much as possible. It is difficult to recycle and only accepted by specific recycling facilities. Even worse, when not recycled, it takes hundreds and hundreds of years to decompose!

Why is number 7 plastic bad for the environment?
Of primary concern with #7 plastics, however, is the potential for chemical leaching into food or drink products packaged in polycarbonate containers made using BPA (Bisphenol A). BPA is a xenoestrogen, a known endocrine disruptor. Number 7 plastics are used to make baby bottles, sippy cups, water cooler bottles and car parts.
