Hoe werken benzodiazepine agonisten?
Benzodiazepine-agonisten hebben een dempende werking doordat ze de (remmende) neurotransmitter gamma-aminoboterzuur (GABA) versterken via de GABAa-receptor. De GABAa-receptor is een remmend ionkanaal dat bestaat uit 5 subunits.
Hoe wordt benzodiazepine geinjecteerd?
Midazolam is een snelwerkende benzodiazepine. Doordat dit middel als een van de weinige benzodiazepinen verdund kan worden met water is het tevens geschikt om geïnjecteerd te worden. De tabletten werken binnen een half uur tot één uur na inname.
Hoe werken Benzos?
Benzodiazepinen werken kalmerend en vlakken emoties af. Ze werken vooral bij meer chronische angst of spanning. Bij paniekaanvallen werken ze minder goed. Ook hier geldt dat na verloop van tijd gewenning op treedt en afhankelijkheid kan ontstaan.
