Pancreassap of sucus pancreaticus is een sap dat wordt geproduceerd door de trosvormige exocriene klieren in de alvleesklier (pancreas). Het bevat een breed spectrum aan enzymen, waaronder trypsinogeen, chymotrypsinogeen, elastase, carboxypeptidase, lipase en amylase.
Waarom bevat pancreassap bicarbonaat?
De alvleesklier produceert dagelijks ca. 2 liter pancreassap, dat afvloeit in het duodenum. Dit sap bevat rijkelijk bicarbonaten (HCO3) en verteringsenzymen (fermenten) die nodig zijn voor de splitsing van eiwit (proteïnen) vetten en koolhydraten in de spijsbrij.
