Welke bloedgroep krijg je van je ouders?
Een vader en moeder geven ieder één kopie van het bloedgroep-gen aan hun kind door. Dit kan een A, B of O zijn. Samen bepaalt dit welke bloedgroep het kind heeft; A, B, AB of O. Je hebt dus altijd twee bloedgroep-genen.
Waarom kan iemand met bloedgroep AB van iedereen ontvangen?
Iemand met bloedtype AB wordt gezien als een ‘universele ontvanger’ van bloed. Aangezien het plasma geen antilichamen aanmaakt tegen bloedcellen met type A- of B-antigenen, kan hij van alle bloedtypes bloed ontvangen.
Kan iemand met bloedgroep O bloed met bloedgroep AB ontvangen?
Wanneer een patiënt met bloedgroep 0 zelf een orgaan nodig heeft, kan hij uitsluitend ontvangen van een donor met bloedgroep 0. Een donor met bloedgroep AB noemen we ‘de universele ontvanger’. Deze donor kan uitsluitend aan een patiënt met bloedgroep AB doneren.
