Wat is Lipomatose?
Het lipoom is de meest voorkomende weke delen tumor en wordt vooral gezien bij patiënten tussen 40 en 60 jaar oud. Ongeveer 5% van de patiënten heeft meerdere lipomen (lipomatose). Meestal is er geen behandeling nodig voor een lipoom. Het lipoom wordt pas chirurgisch verwijderd wanneer er klachten zijn.

De term lipomatose geeft aan dat er te veel aan vet aanwezig is. De term epiduraal geeft aan dat dit vet buiten het harde vlies rondom het ruggenmerg ligt in het wervelkanaal.
