Wat is IDEK 15?
IDIC-15 (een afkorting van isodicentrisch chromosoom 15) is een zeldzame chromosomale afwijking waarbij de diegene die het betreft in elke lichaamscel te veel genetisch materiaal heeft.
Heb ik chromosoomafwijking?
Door DNA-onderzoek kan duidelijk worden of een kind een chromosoomafwijking heeft. Bij sommige aandoeningen zijn er te veel chromosomen. Dat is bijvoorbeeld het geval bij downsyndroom, Trisomie 18, Trisomie 13 en het Klinefelter syndroom. Je kunt ook te weinig chromosomen hebben.
Wat doet chromosoom 13?
Wat is Patau syndroom (Trisomie 13)? Dit extra chromosoom 13 veroorzaakt het Patau syndroom. Trisomie 13 komt bij ongeveer 1 op de 10.000 levend geboren kinderen voor. De aandoening leidt vooral tot afwijkingen aan de hersenen en aan het hart, maar ook verschillende andere aangeboren afwijkingen komen voor.
