Waar staat logo BMW voor?
Het logo bestaat uit een zwarte ring met de hoofdletters BMW. Daarbinnen staat een blauw-wit geblokt veld, een verwijzing naar het wapen van Beieren. Nadat BMW vliegtuigmotoren ging fabriceren, ontstond het verhaal dat het logo een verwijzing is naar een propeller. Ook BMW zelf hield dit verhaal in stand.
Hoe is het BMW logo ontstaan?
Het was gebaseerd op het logo van Rapp Motorenwerke, dat bestond uit een witte cirkel met daarin een zwart schaakstuk (een paard) en daaromheen een zwarte rand met de merknaam erin. BMW behield het laatste element en verving het paard door twee blauwe en witte vlakken.
