Is rijst gras?
Rijst is een eenjarig gras dat wel bijna 2 meter hoog kan worden, met stevige stengels en overhangende, samengestelde aren. De afzonderlijke aartjes zijn tot 1 cm lang, tweezijdig samengedrukt en met 3 bloempjes, waarvan alleen het bovenste niet steriel is. De bladeren zijn langwerpig en hebben een tongetje (ligula).
