- Unit Interventie (vroeger: Bijzondere Bijstandseenheid – Snelle Interventie Eenheid)
- Unit Interventie Mariniers (UIM)
- Unit Expertise en Operationele Ondersteuning (UE&OO)
What is the difference between MARSOC and Navy SEALs?
– Heavy Weaponry Proficiency – Strict, Structured Community – Direct Action (Specifically Airfields) – Infantry Based Operations
Is MARSOC the marine equivalent of the Navy SEALs?
Unless things have changed, MARSOC is something new and though they have specific jobs that have Marines who may compare, the entire entity does not really. The Marine Corp’s equivalent to Navy SEALs is FORCE RECON, not to be confused with simply “recon”. There is a more select group of Marines who go through the training similar to Navy SEALs.
Thus, the SEALs can be MUCH more selective than the Marines can be. All SEALs are combatants, highly and specially trained warriors. While every Marine undergoes basic rifleman training and every Marine is a warrior, not every Marine can be trained to the level of a SEAL. It takes a LONG time to train a Sailor to become a fully qualified SEAL.
Understanding the difference between the Marines and the Navy can help you make the right decision. Although the Marines are highly respected and considered one of the most elite fighting forces, the Navy SEALs training is far more rigorous and demanding than that of the Marines.
