Waarom antibiotica IV?
U krijgt deze antibiotica omdat u een infectieziekte heeft. Antibiotica geven we om infecties met bacteriën te bestrijden. Soms kan dit alleen via een infuus. Bijvoorbeeld als een behandeling voor lange tijd nodig is zodat de bacterie na het stoppen van de behandeling niet terugkomt.
Hoe lang blijft antibiotica via infuus in je lichaam?
Hoe lang antibiotica nog nawerken, verschilt per antibioticum. Het kan soms tot vijf dagen na de laatste pil in je lichaam blijven. Ondanks dat de klachten snel zullen verdwijnen, zal je de antibiotica gedurende een paar dagen moeten gebruiken.
Wat is intraveneuze antibiotica?
Na overleg tussen uw behandelend arts en de internist-infectioloog is samen met u besloten dat intraveneuze (via het infuus) toediening van antibiotica de beste behandeloptie voor u is. Intraveneuze antibiotica worden veelal toegediend in het ziekenhuis, maar kunnen ook goed en veilig thuis worden gegeven.
