De oorsprong van het merk Riverdale ligt in Nederland waar in 1993 groothandel Tenbos BV werd opgericht door de gelijknamige ondernemersfamilie ten Bos. Dochter Sophie is na haar studie in het bedrijf gaan werken om van haar vader het inkopersvak te leren.
