Hoe werkt QoS?

Hoe werkt QoS?

What is classification in QoS?

Before we can configure any QoS methods like queuing, policing or shaping we have to look at the traffic that is running through our router and identify (classify) it so we know to which application it belongs. That’s what classification is about. Once the traffic has been classified, we will mark it and apply a QoS policy to it.

What is quality of service (QoS)?

Quality of service. Quality of service (QoS) is the description or measurement of the overall performance of a service, such as a telephony or computer network or a Cloud computing service, particularly the performance seen by the users of the network.

What are the key components of QoS?

Quality of service (QoS) consists of the following key components: Classification— Classification is the process of distinguishing one type of traffic from another based upon access control lists (ACLs), Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP), Class of Service (CoS), and other factors.

How is QoS classification carried in a packet header?

The classification is carried in the IP packet header, using 6 bits from the deprecated IP type of service (ToS) field to carry the classification ( class) information. Classification can also be carried in the Layer 2 frame. Figure 1. QoS Classification Layers in Frames and Packets.
