Welke ontworming?
Ivermectine en moxidectine zijn beide effectief tegen rode bloedwormen. Echter is alleen moxidectine effectief gebleken in situaties waarin de rode bloedworm in het darmslijmvlies is ingenesteld. Let op bij veulens; niet alle ontwormingsmiddelen zijn geschikt voor veulens jonger dan 4 maanden.
Welke ontworming veulen?
Voor veulens adviseren wij op een leeftijd van 2-4 weken te ontwormen met fenbendazol. Op bedrijven waar geen veulenworm aanwezig is, kan deze ontworming overgeslagen worden. Zes tot acht weken nadat het veulen op de weide komt, moet ontwormd worden tegen rode bloedworm (en grote strongyliden) met ivermectine.
What is Strongid for dogs and cats?
What is Strongid? Strongid is a brand of Pyrantel Pamoate which is used by veterinarians to treat certain types of infectious parasites in both dogs and cats. It works to either paralyse or completely eradicate the parasite by targeting their immune system.
How often should I give my kitten Strongid?
Pyrantel (Nemex, Strongid) is effective against roundworms and hookworms, and is safe for young kittens and pregnant queens. It should be given at intake to all cats and kittens over 2 weeks, and kittens should receive it every 2 weeks until 16 weeks of age.
Can you use Strongid on kittens with worms?
Hence, your kitten is possibly filled with worms when it is born. As such, Strongid is used to treat young kittens. It can also be used to treat such conditions in adult pets and is done so without a huge risk of further damage to already quite enervated pets.
Why is my cat being prescribed Strongid?
Your cat is likely to be prescribed Strongid for roundworms or hookworms. These are parasites which can be picked up by your pet from soil which has infected faeces. You should be aware of the symptoms of such infections because they will be damaging to the health of your pet. Roundworm, for example, causes small lesions devoid of hair.
