Waaruit bestaat de stratosfeer?
Er is een aanzienlijk verschil in samenstelling tussen de troposfeer en de stratosfeer. Zo bevat de stratosfeer meer ozon en minder waterdamp en koolstofdioxide dan de troposfeer. Het gebrek aan verticale luchtbewegingen maakt het dat eenmaal aanwezige verontreiniging lang in de stratosfeer kan blijven.
Wat zijn Sporengassen?
De samenstelling van de atmosfeer De belangrijkste gassen zijn N2 (stikstofgas) en O2 (zuurstofgas), die respectievelijk 78% en 21% van het volume innemen. Argon neemt 0,9% van het volume in en CO2 ongeveer 0,03%. De resterende sporengassen zijn neon, helium, krypton, xenon, waterstof, methaan, ozon, CO, ammoniak,….
Waaruit bestaat de troposfeer?
De troposfeer bestaat voornamelijk uit stikstofgas en zuurstofgas en wordt onderscheiden door twee verschillende luchtlagen. Onmiddellijk boven het aardoppervlak bevindt zich de planetaire grenslaag (Engels: planetary boundary layer), pas daarboven begint de zogenoemde vrije atmosfeer.
