Waarom wordt een stent geplaatst?
Stents kunnen helpen bij het openhouden van de bloedvaten en het verminderen van de kans op een hernieuwde verstopping of vernauwing na het dotteren. Na het plaatsen van de stent zal deze permanent in uw bloedvat blijven.
Hoeveel soorten stents zijn er?
Er zijn drie soorten stents: metalen stents met en zonder medicijnen, en oplosbare stents. Oplosbare stents worden sinds september 2017 nauwelijks nog gebruikt.
Wat is het verschil tussen dotteren en een stent plaatsen?
Een dotterbehandeling is een behandeling waarbij we met een ballon een vernauwing of afsluiting in uw bloedvat opheffen. Bij het plaatsen van een stent plaatsen we een slangetje met hieraan een stent (een soort metalen gaaswerkje) in de vernauwde ader. De stent houdt het bloedvat open.
What is the difference between BMS and EES and des?
Overall, DES led to reductions in long-term (>1 year) TVR (range, 39%-61%) vs. BMS, although this varied depending on stent type (see graphic). All DES led to reductions in MI (with the exception of PES), while EES also led to reductions in stent thrombosis compared with BMS.
Do des and BMS patients have different event rates of cardiac events?
By Kaplan-Meier analysis, event rates of major adverse cardiac events for 6 years were significantly lower in the DES group than in the BMS group (42.5% vs. 58.0%, P=0.036).
Is there a difference between BMS and des after PCI?
Although there were no significant differences in TLR rates between patients treated with DES and those with BMS at 1 year after PCI (17.8% vs. 21.3%, P=0.32), patients treated with DES had significantly lower rates of TLR compared with those treated with BMS beyond the 1-year follow-up after PCI (16.4% vs. 30.9%, P=0.019).
Are EES stents safer than BMS?
There was no increase in the risk of long-term safety outcomes — death, MI or stent thrombosis — with any DES vs. BMS. Researchers also reported that there was a more than 42% probability that EES had the lowest TVR, and that the safest stent appeared to be the EES with a more than 86% probability.
