Is bupropion een opiaat?
Bupropion is een antidepressivum dat werkt als selectieve remmer van de neuronale heropname van catecholamines (noradrenaline en dopamine) met een minimaal effect op de heropname van serotonine. Bupropion wordt ook ingezet ter ondersteuning bij het stoppen met roken.
Wat doet bupropion?
Bupropion regelt in de hersenen de hoeveelheid noradrenaline (norepinefrine) en dopamine. Deze lichaamseigen stoffen spelen een rol bij emoties en stemmingen. Artsen schrijven het voor bij rookverslaving, bij depressie en bij ADHD.

Hoe werkt Mysimba?
Hoe werkt Mysimba? Het exacte werkingsmechanisme van Mysimba is niet geheel bekend, maar de twee werkzame stoffen, naltrexon en bupropion, werken in op het hersengebied dat de voedselopname en de energiebalans reguleert en zij verminderen in de hersenen het plezier in het eten.
Is bupropion een TCA?
Bij ambulant behandelde patiënten met een depressieve stoornis komen als middelen van eerste keus de TCA’s, de SSRI’s, SNRI s, mirtazapine en bupropion in aanmerking. De plaats van de andere antidepressiva is minder duidelijk, maar ook zij lijken globaal even effectief als de andere anti-depressiva.
How much bupropion/Wellbutrin in Contrave?
Contrave has 90mg bupropion/Wellbutrin in each tablet. While starting Contrave I am weining off of the wellbutrin. First week 1 Contrave and 100mg wellbutrin in the AM and PM 1 200mg wellbutrin. 2nd week 1 Contrave and 100mg wellbutrin AM and PM. 3RD WEEK 2 Contrave in AM and 1 contrave and 1 100mg wellbutrin in PM.

What are the contraindications for Contrave?
If a patient uses opioids chronically, the opioid should be discontinued for seven to 10 days before Contrave is initiated to prevent precipitation of opioid withdrawal.8 The concomitant use of bupropion with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) is contraindicated due to risk of hypertensive reactions.
