Hoe oud wordt een magnolia boom?
Gewone beverboom – Magnolia x soulangeana Een van de oudste exemplaren van Nederland met een zeer brede kroon staat in het Wageningse Bassecourt en is ongeveer 150 jaar oud. Het is eigenlijk een grote struik die altijd laag vertakt is en zeer breed kan uitgroeien. Hij bloeit vroeg en vormt maar weinig vruchten.
Hoeveel groeit een magnolia per jaar?
Deze Magnolia groeit circa 30cm per jaar. Het eerste jaar moeten alle tuinplanten zich settelen, in het tweede jaar zal de struik sneller groeier. After the rescue of the house in 1966, the Friends of Magnolia Mound joined the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) in restoring the house and its landscape. The Friends helped inspire the Mound’s mission to focus on education through the highest standards in accuracy and restoration.

BREC owns and operates Magnolia Mound. All of the furniture, decorative items, and artifacts are owned and cared for by the Friends. This collection brings to life the interiors of the house and other buildings for the community, school groups, and tourists.

Crop garden – The crop garden contains indigo, tobacco, cotton, and sugarcane, depicting Magnolia Mound’s cash crops throughout its history. Pigeonnier – A small pigeon house or dovecote, c.1825, typical of French Creole plantations, was used to house squab and various game birds.
