Hoe leven Filipijnen?
Daarbij is de Filipijnen een luidruchtig en vervuild land. Dus het is, ook qua cultuur, best schakelen. Ik woon nu in een derde wereld land waar het sterfte cijfer door vervuild drinkwater nog kinderen dood. Dat realiseer je je niet als je hier drie weken komt rondreizen, dat merk je pas op als je hier langer woont.
Wanneer werden de Filipijnen onafhankelijk?
Kort na het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, op 4 juli 1946, werden de Filipijnen onafhankelijk. De eerste president van het onafhankelijke land was Manuel Roxas, die bij de verkiezingen van 1946 zittend president Sergio Osmeña had verslagen.
