Wat is een ARP-tabel?
Elke netwerkkaart (NIC) bouwt een tabel op met daarin de IP adressen in je lokale IP-subnet en de bijbehorende MAC-adressen. Als een computer verbinding wil maken met een andere machine zoekt hij in deze ARP-tabel of hij het benodigde MAC-adres van de bestemming al kent.
Wat heb je aan een MAC adres?
Het MAC-adres is een uniek identificatienummer van de netwerkmodule in jouw device, waarmee je met het internet kunt verbinden. Op die manier is je apparaat herkenbaar voor andere apparaten in je netwerk, waardoor dataverkeer tussen die apparaten in goede banen wordt geleid.

What is Arp and how does it work?
ARP is used for discovering the link layer address (MAC address) associated with an IPv4 address. Hosts find the physical address of other hosts by sending an ARP query packet that includes the IP address of the receiver. When the response is returned, the firewall updates the neighbor cache with the corresponding MAC address.
What is Arp neighbor in firewall?
Neighbors (ARP–NDP) The firewall uses the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) and Neighbor Discover Protocol (NDP) to enable communication between hosts residing on the same subnet. Using these protocols, the firewall creates IP/MAC mappings and stores them in neighbor caches. Static mappings are also supported.
What is Proxy ARP/NDP snooping?
Proxy ARP and NDP snooping are enabled by default for all EVPN-MPLS or EVPN-VXLAN bridge domains and VLANs. ARP or NDP packets generated from a local customer edge (CE) device or Layer 2 VXLAN gateway are snooped. ARP and NDP packets generated from a remote PE device or Layer 3 VXLAN gateway through core-facing interfaces, however, are not snooped.
Wat is het mac adres?
Het MAC-adres staat voor Media Access Control Address en betreft een uniek identificatienummer dat helpt bij het volgen van jouw apparaat in een netwerk. Elke netwerkkaart, zoals een ethernet- of wifi-kaart, krijgt vanuit de fabriek een MAC-adres toegewezen. Deze kan niet worden gewijzigd.
