Wat betekent Dolby Atmos ondersteuning?
Dolby Atmos is een technologie voor audio apparatuur. Het is een ontwikkelde versie van Dolby Surround. Bij Dolby Surround plaats je speakers voor en achter je luisterpositie, zodat het geluid uit meerdere hoeken komt. Bij Dolby Atmos wordt het geluid ook naar het plafond gestuurd en weerkaatst naar je luisterpositie.
Wat heb je nodig voor Dolby Atmos?
Om Dolby Atmos thuis te kunnen beluisteren zijn dus extra speakers, nieuwe speakers of add-on modules nodig maar dat is niet alles. De receiver of versterker die je hebt staan moet het audioformaat kunnen decoderen en vervolgens naar de speakers kunnen sturen.
Wat is het verschil tussen Dolby Atmos en Dolby Digital?
Dolby Atmos is geen codec, maar een audioformaat dat gebruik maakt van twee bestaande codecs: Dolby Digital+ en Dolby TrueHD. Atmos voegt extra data toe aan de datastroom. Daarnaast is er ook nog Dolby Atmos Music, een speciale variant die je via TIDAL HiFi en Amazon Music HD kunt luisteren.

How much does it cost to install Atmos?
Atmos isn’t a cheap upgrade, my setup cost about $3500 after everything (AVR, wiring, the AMP, and speakers).
Do I need to upgrade my receiver to get Atmos?
A small handful of receivers can get Atmos through a software upgrade, but if you didn’t buy in the last year, you probably don’t have one of them. (Even if you did, the number of AVRs eligible for that upgrade is limited.)
Is Dolby Atmos AVR worth it?
Is it really worth it. Caveat: I just installed my Atmos AVR a few days ago, so I’m still giddy over it. Pros: Seamless enveloping sound at 7.2.4. My wife was hugely impressed (no small feat). As big a leap to Atmos from 7.1, as Dolby Digital 5.1 was from Pro-Logic—at least to me.
