Waarom HDMI kabel nodig?
Met een HDMI kabel is het mogelijk om een apparaat aan te sluiten op een beeldscherm. Denk daarbij bijvoorbeeld aan het aansluiten van een dvd-speler, laptop of spelcomputer op een LCD-televisie. Via een HDMI kabel wordt het signaal digitaal overgezet. Bij ‘oudere’ kabels, zoals SCART, was dit signaal analoog.
Wat voor HDMI kabel heb ik nodig?
Met een Standard-kabel kijk je hd tv (1080i). Een High-Speed-kabel toont Ultra HD (4K) en HDR. Als er op het label de toevoeging ‘with Ethernet’ staat, laat de kabel ook internetverkeer door. Elke HDMI-kabel met High Speed is prima, als deze niet te lang is.
HDMI staat voor High-Definition Multimedia interface en draagt zowel video- als audiosignalen digitaal over. Doordat het signaal ongecomprimeerd wordt overgedragen is de geluids- en beeldkwaliteit beter dan bij analoge aansluiting zoals SCART of het wel digitale DVI.

Why are Active HDMI adapters so expensive?
Active adapters are more expensive because they use additional converter chips to adapt the signal from the DisplayPort. If you plan to connect a DisplayPort video source to several HDMI displays, you’ll probably want an active adapter.
Does HDMI to DVI make a difference in picture quality?
As in, 1,920×1,080/60 over HDMI is going to look the same as 1,920×1,080/60 over DVI and DisplayPort (assuming all other settings are the same). The logical extension of this is that the cables themselves also don’t make a difference, in terms of picture “quality.”
