Waar smaakt balkenbrij naar?
Bij de moderne varianten van balkenbrij gebruikt men vaak varkensvlees, spek en lever in plaats van slachtafval. Kroeboet en Duitse varianten bevatten bovendien veel bloed waardoor het donkerroodbruin in plaats van grijs van kleur is en qua smaak meer op bloedworst lijkt.

Er zit 4,2 gram vet in 1 plak (50 gram) balkenbrij, waarvan 1,6 gram verzadigd vet. Voor je hart en bloedvaten is het gezond om vooral producten te kiezen met veel onverzadigde vetten.
