Hoe sterk zijn kaakspieren?
De kaakspieren zijn namelijk een van de sterkste spieren van het lichaam. Een verzamelnaam voor kaakklachten is craniomandibulaire dysfunctie (CMD, ook wel temperomandibulaire disfunctie genoemd (TMD)). Met CMD wordt een aantal aandoeningen van de kauwspieren en het kaakgewricht aangeduid.
Hoe kan je een strakke kaaklijn krijgen?
Ga zitten, houdt je mond gesloten en duw je tong weer tegen je gehemelte. Nu draai je je gezicht helemaal richting het plafond en dit houdt je vast voor 10 seconden. Ook dit herhaal je drie keer. Om je kaaklijn nog strakker te maken kun je wanneer je naar het plafond kijkt, met je lippen een “O” vorm maken.

The mouth guard prevents you from clenching or grinding your teeth at night, which can help alleviate TMJ symptoms caused by bruxism. When other treatments fail or don’t provide enough relief, TMJ surgery may become an option.
