What is SLI (SLI)?
SLI or Scalable Link Interface is a multi-GPU technology from Nvidia. It is based on the principle of parallel processing where two or more GPUs share the load of game or graphics application.
What is NVIDIA SLI (Quad SLI)?
This also allows for four-way SLI using only two cards (which is referred to as Quad SLI). Nvidia has created a set of custom video game profiles in cooperation with video game publishers that will automatically enable SLI in the mode that gives the largest performance boost.
What is the difference between SLI and NVLink?
Like SLI, NVLink is a way to connect multiple graphics cards for a single purpose, but a little spicier. So far, it only works in a two-card setup, but that should be plenty given its use of NVLink Bridge.
What is 2 way SLI on a computer?
Computer with 2-way SLI graphics cards installed. SLI allows two, three, or four graphics processing units (GPUs) to share the workload when rendering real-time 3D computer graphics. Ideally, identical GPUs are installed on the motherboard that contains enough PCI Express slots, set up in a master–slave configuration.
How do I get my graphics card to work with SLI?
Make sure your video cards are properly seated and that the SLI bridge is installed correctly. Sometimes, swapping the slots your cards sit in does the trick. Verify that Windows Device Manager is showing two identical graphics cards in the Display Adapters section. Ensure that SLI is enabled in your BIOS settings.
What models are supported by the SLI technology?
The supported models are NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600, 5500, 4600, 4500, 4400, 3500, 3450, 3400, 1500, 1400, 560, 550, 540 and 350. How will my application take advantage of the SLI technology? SLI technology is application transparent and is enabled through the graphics drivers. All OpenGL applications can take advantage of SLI technology.
Do all games and applications support SLI?
All games and applications do not support SLI technology. You can only see performance increase in games and applications that are GPU bound and supports multi-GPU configuration. For them Nvidia includes SLI profiles in their driver package so that you don’t have to configure anything for them.
