Voor de ara’s zelf is het beter om ze met twee of in groep te houden, liefst in een grote volière zodat ze niet van de eigenaar afhankelijk zijn voor voldoende beweging. Voor mensen met een lage weerstand is het af te raden om papegaaien te houden.
Wat is CITES vergunning?
CITES staat voor Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. Doel van het CITES-verdrag is voorkomen dat een soort in het wild uitsterft of sterk in aantal daalt. Voor sommige beschermde soorten is de handel verboden. In andere gevallen is een CITES-vergunning nodig.
