Waar wordt Teflon gemaakt?
In maart 2016 maakt het RIVM bekend dat de teflon-fabriek van DuPont in Dordrecht jarenlang te hoge concentraties heeft uitgestoten van de mogelijk kankerverwekkende stof, PFOA. PFOA ook wel C8 genoemd, is tientallen jaren gebruikt voor het maken van teflon dat onder andere gebruikt wordt als anti-aanbaklaag in pannen.
Hoe schadelijk is Teflon?
Niet alleen voor vogels die dood gaan door de dampen hiervan. Maar teflon is ook giftig voor de mens. Zolang je vet gebruikt in de pan, blijft de temperatuur onder de 250 graden en is er niks aan de hand. Bij temperaturen boven de 250 graden kunnen er bepaalde giftige stoffen vrijkomen.
