Is rectaal onderzoek pijnlijk?
Het onderzoek De arts voelt met zijn vinger via de anus of uw prostaat vergroot is. En of de prostaat misschien knobbelig of hard aanvoelt. Hierbij gebruikt hij of zij handschoenen en glijmiddel. Het onderzoek kan onprettig aanvoelen, maar is niet pijnlijk.
Wat is PSA bloedonderzoek?
Met een bloedonderzoek naar PSA-waarde zien we hoeveel van dit eiwit in uw bloed zit. Dit onderzoek heet ook wel een PSA-test. PSA staat voor ‘prostaatspecifiek antigeen’. Als het PSA in het bloed verhoogd is, kan dit wijzen op prostaatkanker.
Wat is rectaal inbrengen?
Rectaal, afgeleid van rectum (endeldarm), wijst op het toedienen van (met name medicijnen) via de anus. Het staat dus tegenover oraal (via de mond) toedienen van medicijnen. Doordat de medicijnen de maag op deze manier niet hoeven te passeren, zal er minder van het toegediende middel worden aangetast door maagzuur.
