Wat is Ductal carcinoma?
DCIS is een vermeerdering van kwaadaardige cellen in de melkgangen van de borst die zich nog niet in het omliggend weefsel hebben verspreid. Als de kwaadaardige cellen binnen de begrenzing van de cel blijven, spreken we van borstkanker in situ (ductaal carcinoom in situ (DCIS)).
Wat is onrustig weefsel?
Bij DCIS blijven deze kwaadaardige kankercellen op hun plaats (in situ). Ze groeien niet door in het omliggende weefsel. DCIS wordt vaak per toeval ontdekt, bijvoorbeeld tijdens het bevolkingsonderzoek naar borstkanker. Om te voorkomen dat het DCIS uitgroeit tot borstkanker, raden we meestal een behandeling aan.

Is melanoma in situ the most curable stage?
Treatment: Stage 0 melanoma is removed surgically, with minimal but clear margins. This is sometimes called an excision. Wide local excision, a minor surgery, usually cures local melanoma. What are symptoms of ductal carcinoma in situ?
Ductal carcinoma in situ does not have specific symptoms such a lump or breast pain. “Most cases are diagnosed in a mammogram before causing any symptoms,” Sun says.
