Welke shaft voor een driver?
Drivers zijn tegenwoordig allemaal voorzien van een graphite shaft. Deze zijn er over het algemeen in Ladies flex, light flex (ook wel senior flex), regular flex, stiff flex en extra stiff flex. Deze flexibele shafts zijn licht waardoor de swingsnelheid hoger wordt en u verder kunt slaan.
Hoe lang moet de shaft van een driver zijn?
Drivers variëren tegenwoordig tussen 43 en 46 inch volgens de fabrikant. Taylor Made drivers meten bijvoorbeeld 45-46 inch voor mannen, en 44-45 inch voor vrouwen. Een Pinemeadow driver daarentegen meet 44-45 inch voor de mannen en 43-44 inch voor de vrouwen.
Hoe lengte shaft meten?
De afstand van pols naar de grond is de meest bepalende factor voor de lengte van de shaft van een golfclub. De polshoogte wordt gemeten vanaf de polsrand (de huidplooi aan de binnenzijde) tot op de grond. Hierbij moet een standaard (sport)schoen worden gebruikt met een zooldikte tussen 2 en 3 centimeter.
Welk gewicht shaft driver?
Als je een lichtgewicht shaft in je driver hebt, betekent dat niet per se dat je ook bij je ijzers voor licht moet gaan. Je moet ze individueel benaderen. Bij tourspeler Gary Woodland zit er bijvoorbeeld 55 gram verschil tussen de shaft van zijn driver en ijzers, terwijl dit bij Matt Kuchar 30 gram is.
