Wat houdt graffiti in?
Graffiti is een verzamelnaam voor afbeeldingen en teksten die op straat of op een openbare plaats zijn aangebracht met verf of stiften. Het woord graffiti betekent ‘ingekraste tekening’ en is afkomstig van het Italiaanse woord ‘graffiato’.
Is er een verschil tussen street art en graffiti?
Bij graffiti gaat het meestal om decoratief aangemaakte “name” tags en draait het veelal om de maker. Dit in tegenstelling tot street art, waarbij de afbeelding en/of boodschap een heel stuk belangrijker is. Heel wat street art wordt anoniem aangebracht, waardoor de maker zeker niet de spil vormt.

What is stencil graffiti?
Stencil graffiti is created by cutting out shapes and designs in a stiff material (such as cardboard or subject folders) to form an overall design or image. The stencil is then placed on the “canvas” gently and with quick, easy strokes of the aerosol can, the image begins to appear on the intended surface.

Graffiti range from simple written words to elaborate wall paintings, and they have existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, and the Roman Empire. In modern times, paint (particularly spray paint) and marker pens have become the most commonly used graffiti materials.
