Het Britse attractieconcern Merlin Entertainments Group opende eind oktober 2016 de zevende vestiging van Legoland, in het oliestaatje Dubai, in 2017 de achtste versie, in Japan, en in 2021 Legoland New York. Daarmee komt het totale aantal Lego-parken op negen.
