Wat zijn epidermiscellen?
De opperhuid is de buitenste laag van de huid en bestaat uit epidermiscellen. Deze cellen worden onderin de opperhuid aangemaakt en schuiven langzaam naar boven. De bovenste laag epidermiscellen wordt hoornlaag genoemd. Deze hoornlaag bestaat uit hoorncellen.
Wat zijn verzonken huidmondjes?
De huidmondjes zijn vaak verzonken en worden dan cryptomeer genoemd. Vaak zijn er additionele voorzieningen om het waterverlies tegen te gaan, bijvoorbeeld door beharing. In een aantal gevallen gaan ook andere cellen dan de sluitcellen, meestal de buurcellen, deelnemen aan het openen en sluiten van de huidmondjes.
