Hoeveel zendmasten zijn er in Nederland?
Naast 4G is 2G nog altijd de dominante techniek op Nederlandse mobiele netwerken. Het aantal zendmasten met 5G was in december 8105, terwijl er in Nederland in totaal 15.747 zendmasten te vinden zijn, zegt het Antennebureau. Die overheidsinstantie publiceert elke maand een overzicht van zendmasten in Nederland.
Waar staat 5G aan?
5G staat voor de vijfde generatie mobiele netwerken. Belangrijkste kenmerk is de extreem hoge snelheid. 5G is niet alleen sneller dan 4G, het kan ook meer data versturen, is stabieler en is minder belastend voor de accu van jouw apparaat.

De provider hoopt voor het einde van dit jaar in heel Nederland 5G aan te bieden. KPN start in vijf steden: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht en Eindhoven. De landelijke dekking volgt bij deze provider ergens in 2021. VodafoneZiggo loopt qua dekking voor en dekt ongeveer 80 procent van Nederland.
