What is edTPA?
This serves as a culmination of a teaching and learning process that documents and demonstrates each candidate’s ability to effectively teach his/her subject matter to all students. Stanford University faculty and staff at the Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning, and Equity (SCALE) developed edTPA, formerly the Teacher Performance Assessment.
How do I sign up for the edTPA assessment?
When you’re ready to sign up for the assessment, please visit the official edTPA website at www.edtpa.com. The edTPA is a performance-based assessment used by teacher preparation programs throughout the US to measure and support the skills and knowledge required of teachers in the classroom.
Do I have to complete edTPA If I Am student teaching?
For any candidate, if student teaching is waived by the Connecticut EPP based on at least 10 months of prior, full-time teaching experience, the candidate does not have to complete edTPA (substitute teaching does not count towards the 10-month requirement).
How is the edTPA scoring committee scored?
The edTPA scoring committee will use the videotape and student assessments to measure your effectiveness at teaching the skill you outlined in your lesson plan. Portfolios are scored by teachers and teacher educators (teachers who train teachers) with subject and grade-level expertise.
How well do you Know Your students for edTPA?
Part of your edTPA score will be assessing how effectively you manage your classroom and drive student outcomes. You should know your students well, then, to be able to differentiate your lessons and your instruction for their needs. You’ll want to know your class fairly well before creating your edTPA videotapes.
Who designs and reviews edTPA?
The design and review teams have included university faculty, national subject-matter organization representatives (e.g., NCTM, NCTE, NSTA), and P–12 teachers. Stanford University is the exclusive author and owner of edTPA.
