Is nylon touw sterk?
Nylon is gemaakt van haardunne multifilament (polyamide). Het sterkste touw gemaakt van kunststof fiber en heeft een erg hoge breekkracht, maar is ook erg elastisch. Nylon 3 strengs wordt gebruikt voor onder andere stroppen en meertrossen, omdat het touw niet rot en slechts weinig water opneemt.
Wat is sterker nylon of polypropyleen?
Polypropeen is minder sterk dan polyamide of polyester, maar is veel goedkoper te produceren. Polypropeentouw blijft goed drijven. Het kan echter niet tegen ultravioletlicht. Omdat dit materiaal soepeler is, wordt het vooral gebruikt voor trimlijnen op zeilboten.
Welk touw neemt water op?
Knip de katoenen touwtjes in lengtes van 60 cm. Je hebt één touw of strook katoen per plant nodig. Maak één kant van de touwtjes vast aan een paperclip, en leg de kant van de paperclip in de pan zodat het touwtje naar de bodem zinkt.
Is nylon waterproof?
Nylon is not a waterproof material, it has a 4% moisture regain level. It absorbs water, therefore you cannot use it as such for waterproofing purposes. However, nylon can be used as a base for water resistant products provided that it is treated with water repellent solutions.
How much weight can nylon 6 hold in water?
This similarity in bonding types produces an unusual affinity between water and nylon, and at equilibrium, materials like nylon 6, nylon 6/6, and nylon 4/6 can hold approximately 1.5-2% of their weight in water. This value can be substantially higher if the polymer is immersed in water and is allowed to reach a saturation point.
Is unfilled nylon dry?
Unfilled nylon is considered to be dry at moisture contents between zero and .20%. This is unusual. Most polymers that are dried need to have moisture contents below .10% and for many of the more critical polymers the upper limit is .02%.
Does nylon absorb water?
For the same reason, polymers like polyethylene do not absorb water. Most polar polymers, like polycarbonate and acrylic, absorb moisture but typically reach equilibrium at .10-.20% by weight. However, nylons contain a chemical feature known as an amide group, illustrated in Figure 1 as part of a short segment of a nylon 6/6 polymer chain.
